Integrative tools that give your body what it needs to heal.

We focus on equipping your body to:

improve detox pathways

Many patients’ organs of elimination aren’t functioning in an optimal manner. You may have a mild dysfunction in your liver or kidneys that isn’t obvious with standard laboratory tests.

By using standard labs, functional medicine labs, and other physical exam techniques like Autonomic Response Testing (ART), I look deeper into what may be causing your impaired detoxification.

reduce toxic burden

We’re assailed by toxins in our environment. The food we eat, the water we drink, and the chemicals used on nearly everything we touch have become a toxic burden to our systems.

Many of these toxins are fat-soluble, meaning your body will store them. These toxins can cause DNA damage, mitochondrial damage, and lead to a significant disruption in our health. It’s possible to reduce toxin exposure and remove them from your tissues.

balance & retrain your immune system

In patients with complex toxicity, their immune system often becomes “hypersensitive” to things it is not supposed to react to.

Once “sensitized”, these immune cells get stuck in a feedback loop, which continues to cause inflammation and injury.

I use specific tools and treatments to improve your immune tolerance.

optimize your terrain

Just like a garden, we need good soil. Our microbiome is composed of 10-100 trillion microbial cells.

We need the right kind and amount of microbes in order to have optimal health.

Using testing when needed and the right supplements, we can balance the microbiome in a way that enhances health.

There is no ONE therapy for the patient. No recipe book, no cookie cutters. That’s why I have a big tool kit.”

TREATMENTS

  • woman's hand holding a dandelion flower outside

    LDA & LDI

Low-dose allergen therapy (LDA) and Low-dose immunotherapy (LDI) are treatments that help your body create immune tolerance to an “offender” or antigen.

In LDA, the offenders are common environmental substances—like pollen, foods, and chemicals—that are creating an overactive immune response. In LDI, the offenders are microbes like bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites.

By gently training your immune system to respond appropriately to these antigens, we can improve your tolerance and your symptoms.

    NEURAL THERAPY

Neural therapy is a precise treatment used in chronic pain and illnesses. It is believed to act on the autonomic nervous system (ANS) to restore membrane potential in nerve cells. The autonomic nervous system controls all of the bodily functions that you don’t have to think about—breathing, circulation, body temperature, and many others.

In 1925, the Huneke brothers discovered this therapy and found that many of their patients improved by treating their “interference fields”—areas of the body that caused a disturbance in the ANS. I’ve been trained in neural therapy by the esteemed Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt.

  • woman in pain sitting on floor holding ankle

    PROLOZONE THERAPY

Prolozone therapy uses oxygen to assist in healing tissues that may have an accumulation of lactic acid. The lactic acid buildup can cause inflammation, dysregulation, or pain. This therapy can improve circulation, increase antioxidant protection, and stimulate mitochondrial activity.

When you give injured tissue what it needs to heal, and improve circulation in the area, pain often resolves. I’ve had post-graduate training in prolozone therapy with Dr. Frank Shallenberger, Dr. Robert Rowan and Dr. Dennis Harper.

  • doctor's gloved hand preparing an injection

    PERINEURAL SUBCUTANEOUS INJECTIONS

This treatment was discovered by Dr. John Lyftogt. It uses natural substances like 5% dextrose (D5W) to assist with pain relief by restoring the cell’s normal function and decreasing or eliminating pain altogether. The treatment is extremely safe and I’ve found it very useful in my practice for pain reduction. I’ve received training in this treatment with Dr. Jeff Harris.

  • holistic and herbal medicine bottles on tray

    Herbal Medicine

The art and science of herbal botanical medicine is thousands of years old and is the origin of modern medicine. Most, if not all, plants and trees have healing properties. For example, the inner bark of the willow tree was initially used to make modern day aspirin!

By taking your entire health picture into account, I can often formulate an herbal prescription that addresses multiple symptoms with one unique blend.

  • iv therapy bag dripping in a patient room

    IV Therapy

IV Therapy is the intravenous administration of patient-specific nutrients and minerals. The benefit of IV therapy is that it bypasses the GI tract, allowing for optimal bioavailability. I’ve had extensive training in IV therapy while at Bastyr and completed post-graduate training and certification in advanced heavy metal chelation. I’ve also taken many more advanced classes with Drs. Cochran, Shrader, Patrick, Merritt, Crinion, Rowan, Shallenberger, Morris and Anderson.

  • pills

    Pharmaceuticals

In 70% of cases, using a pharmaceutical is reactive medicine but nevertheless very necessary in those who need it. This is the case with antimicrobial treatments for bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites. In 30% of cases, it can be proactive – treating deeper more chronic symptoms. Dr. Wakely has extensive training with standard pharmaceutical prescribing as well as off-label applications.

  • colorful salad in a bowl on a wooden table

    Diet Therapy

Nutrition is a powerful tool for healing. I often recommend dietary changes or “experiments” to see if symptoms change. I have experience with the following diets: ketogenic, low carb, low fat, Paleo, Mediterranean, vegan, vegetarian, low-FODMAP, GAPS, Specific Carbohydrate (SCD), elimination, elemental, DASH, and intermittent fasting. And if the depth of dietary intervention required is beyond me, I’ll refer you to a nutritionist I trust.

  • homeopathic pellets and bottle with purple flower

    Homeopathy

Homeopathy is a system of medicine based on the “like cures like” principle. The theory is this: a remedy that would cause symptoms if given in a high dose would treat those exact symptoms if given in a low dose. I’ve received extensive training in homeopathy while at Bastyr University and completed two years of post-graduate training with Drs. Herscu and Rothenburg through The New England School of Homeopathy.

  • white vitamins in a bowl with green leaves on each side

    Nutrient & Vitamin Therapy

Vitamins, minerals and other supplements can be used to assist in restoring function and improving symptoms.

I use a combination of traditional laboratory testing and Autonomic Response Testing to pinpoint exactly what your body needs.

  • waterfall streaming down a cliff

    Drainage & Depuration Therapy

Often, the symptoms you’re presenting with aren’t the problem. The problem is that your organs of elimination aren’t working in a functional manner.

Drainage and depuration therapy is a foundational therapy in my practice. In order to restore normal function to organs and tissues, you need to open pathways to remove toxins.

  • illustration of the spine on a clipboard

    Naturopathic manipulation technique (NMT)

Naturopathic manipulation is similar to chiropractic techniques used to mobilize the spine. I use this technique often in combination with other therapies to address pain and dysfunction.
